Self Help Books

All of the following books are suitable books for self-help and have been picked as far as possible to avoid "psycho-babble" and offer practical understanding for every day people! Your decision to buy them (or not) is your own!

Ivan Tyrell and Joe Griffin, authors of Human Givens, are forerunners in Solution Focused Research. These books focus on the fact that people have needs and in order to be well, it is necessary to have fundamental needs met. Fantastic books which will set you on the path towards wellness by helping you to recognise core needs and how to have them met. Human Givens is a particularly important book for anyone to read.

CBT or Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is a therapy based on the simple understanding that 1) How you think affects the way you feel. 2) You are disturbed when you endorse your own irrational thoughts 3) Be gentle with yourself. Everyone thinks irrationally sometimes 4) You can change your thoughts and feelings over time. Though best undertaken with a practitioner, the essence is really simple, very logical, and highly effective when applied. Particularly recommended is Mind over Mood which anyone can use with ease!
