John
Crawford - DHP, HPD, MAPHP
(Acc),
MHS, MNCP.
My
own interest in creating positive change began over fifteen years
ago. A brush with serious illness which was too close for comfort,
left me in no doubt that there was a need for me to understand the
process which had led me to that point; and, what I would need to do
differently in future. In my own search for wellness I went on to
explore many therapies and philosophies, getting lost plenty of
times along the way before finally meeting a therapist who showed me
the way back to physical and emotional health. Now many years on,
and with plenty of professional training in between, this picture of
cause and effect has become remarkably clear. It is my pleasure to
pass the torch on by helping
you to overcome your difficulties and reconnect positively to life
and your potential.
How
do I work?
My
work as a therapist is essentially clinical. I offer
a practical, scientific approach incorporated into a modern
solution-focused psychotherapeutic framework. We always keep in
sight however the fact that some aspects of the work we do require
"heart". In practice this means
that I will work comfortably with you whatever personality type you
are. If you are scientifically minded we can work effectively with
facts, logic, and clinical perspectives. There is science at work
here and I will make sure you fully understand that science as part
of the work we do together. If you are a more
"existential" type of personality and prefer to work with
matters of the heart then I am entirely comfortable working in that
way too.
I
pride myself on staying right up to date with the best of
therapeutic research and draw from many different psychotherapeutic
models to create an overall approach which is focused on "what
works!" I am committed to continued professional and personal
development. I regularly attend advanced training events to stay up
to date with the latest developments and the best of current
thinking, as demonstrated by research and experience; a process
which continues indefinitely. I hold specialist certification
as an "OCD & Anxiety Disorders Specialist". I am
formally trained and qualified in the use of Cognitive Behavioural
Therapy (CBT) to NVQ4 level. I have over eight years experience
as a full time hypnotherapist and hold accredited status with the
APHP.
- Accredited Member (MAPHP(acc.):
These members have at least 5 years of practice experience and
ongoing supervision.
I
am very approachable and I bring to my work a sincere sense of
humanity and compassion, an ingredient I consider vital to all
healing. My consulting room is a judgment free zone. Your
individuality and circumstances will be honoured.
